What is heaven? It is said to be a place of ultimate reward and that is our limit of achievement. What if there was something worth more than heaven, something that would render heaven meaningless. Something worth crying for, something to inflect an ache in your heart and a thirst in your blind eyes, something worth more than heaven. To understand that reward or to comprehend, first you must know what is love, pain and impatience. Imagine someone or thing you love the most in the world, now imagine the worst pain you think you have went through. In some way love and pain are the same things and that is what impatience is. God has created a bit of pain in love and a bit of love in pain.
Narated By Abu Huraira : I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, Allah divided Mercy into one-hundred parts and He kept its ninety-nine parts with Him and sent down its one part on the earth, and because of that, it’s one single part, His creations are Merciful to each other, so that even the mare lifts up its hoofs away from its baby animal, lest it should trample on it.” – Sahih Bukhari.
How can I explain love? I can only share a glimpse. Think of your mother, she truly loves you, right? What if there is a baby which just opened its eyes to the world, it is unaware of everything, it is the purest of heart and clearest of mind. Yet it knows only two things, pain and love. It smiles when it’s near his mom and it cries when he is away. The mother is aware of this and her life resides in this baby. It causes a lot of pain to her just to hear the baby cry. It breaks her heart to see that sad scared face before it even begins to cry. It fills her with all the joy of the world just to hear it giggle out of happiness. This is indeed the purest of love. The baby causes her immense pain and at the same time it is a piece of her soul that she loves.
Imagine this baby, this very small baby. It gets a cut on its arm and it starts to bleed. A similar thing happened to me when I was an infant, a piece of sharp glass fell on my foot and the smallest finger got partially separated. Obviously it was a huge panic for everyone. This baby cannot even express how much pain he is feeling. One doesn’t like this imagine, as you are imaging all this you are might feel really hurt or quite irritated. That’s what you feel. Imagine the worry, pain, panic. Heart break and unbearable ache for a mother to see her petal like this. This is just a picture of a mothers love. Now there is someone who loves you seventy times the love of this mother.
Allah loves the best of His creations, the human being. One day the Holy Prophet (S) was walking with his companions when he saw a mother bird with her babies in a nest. The mother bird was feeding the small ones some worms. So tender and gentle were her actions, that the companions were awe-struck at this display of love. The Prophet (S) smiled and said, “Are you surprised at the love this mother bird has for her babies? Let me inform you that Allah loves His creatures, the human beings seventy times more than this mother!”
We live in this world and we are all creations of Allah. He loves every person with his love and can you imagine how much that love is? Imagine a mother getting separated from her baby. The mother will across oceans and walk on fires to get her baby back. She is impatient, she is reckless and she cannot bare a second away from her baby. It is out of my understanding that how are we here. We were send down here, we are away from our creator. We are all fools. Take just a normal friend, not a best friend, just a friend. If we stop talking to him he would be upset and obviously show that he is hurt. Now here is your creator, your Allah, someone who truly loves you. We don’t talk to him! He calls us five times a day but we don’t go. Our Allah wants us to come to him, be with him, to him we must return. So Allah created heaven for his creation. A place where we can go back to him.
But heaven is not the ultimate reward. There is something worth more than heaven. Some might know and if you were a Sufi you surely would know. Firstly, who is a Sufi? Let’s just say a person that spends his life in love of Allah and gets close to him spiritually. This can be an understatement. A Sufi sits alone and begs Allah, he cries with overflowing tears, he is constantly wrecked with pain. For what? He is afraid, he shivers both his hands together while every inch of his body is trembling in presence of Allah. He is unable to open his eyes and keeps them tightly closed. Shaking his head humbly waiting for a voice in the vacuum. For him nothing exists but his Allah. He speaks in fear, love and gentle impatience, with only a smirk and the drop down of the first tear, he asks that he needs nothing, He only wants to remind Allah to keep a promise. What is that promise? Such trembling worship and yet he again bargains that he doesn’t want heaven, heaven is meaningless to him, he doesn’t want this endless joy and riches, nothing in heaven is pleasing to him. For he is in love and his eyes and essence are empty. How does he fill his unceasing desire? His soul is thirsty, his spirit is drained, his eyes are blinded and he wants to see. What is this promise, this promise made by Allah to his creation is worth more than heaven. What is it! What is it!
When we all get to heaven we get everything we have wished for. Heaven’s service is faster than our thoughts. What every man wants and was enslaved towards in this world was a women’s love and wise versa in some way, some more or less than others. In heaven we will get 70 Hoors (Allaah says, describing the reward of the people of Paradise (interpretation of the meaning): “And (there will be) Hoor (fair females) with wide lovely eyes (as wives for Al-Muttaqoon – the pious).23. Like unto preserved pearls”). We will be so bewildered by them that we will blankly stare at them for 500 years. This is just one reward in heaven and there are more that we can’t imagine. Just arriving in heaven Allah will give us everything we will wish for and then he will ask us that is there anything more that we want; we will answer that this alone is too much and we can’t imagine more and then he will give us more than we can imagine. After we discover everything in heaven and have everything, he again will ask if there is more that we want; we would have more than more of his rewards and what more can we get? Seeing this Allah will give us even more of his rewards. This will carry on and on. One day when Allah asks us again what is it we want now. As always we won’t have an answer. Allah will now say that its time to fulfill my promise to you. This is the thing that the Sufi pray for in their prayers, this is Allah’s promise. This is what is worth more than heaven. Allah will reveal himself in his true Noor form. Our eyes will fill up with Noor. And as our soul has Noor, this Noor will fill completely cover us. As with winds of Noor throughout heaven we will see our creator. Now we all will be Noor. This is the ultimate, ultimate, ultimate reward. For someone who truly loves Allah this is all one would ever want. If we even love a person our eyes and heart aches to look at them. But in this case this will be the first time you will see the origin and our actual true love that our soul and spirit wanted. And as this day ends we return to our house in heaven where our Hoors will be waiting. But this time as we are made of Noor, these 70 Hoors out of bewilderment will stare blankly at our beauty for the next 5000 years.
So is just heaven what you want or do you want to unite with your Creator?
