But A Dream

“I want to sing like the birds sing, not worrying about who hears or what they think.”
“This place is a dream. Only a sleeper considers it real. Then death comes like dawn, and you wake up laughing at what you thought was your grief.” -Rumi

You can’t be real for what it seems
Wake me for you are but a dream

You are but my imagination’s fatality
Such perfection cannot exist in reality

Convincing myself it must be a dream
Aimed product of my desire is your theme

Panic and relief should it be a dream
Keeping me waiting is a distasteful scheme

Tis my endless nightmare that I’m away
If tis was real would have I found a way

You are the reason for this smirk on me
Return back my speech you stole from me

Do thoughts have thoughts or do they feel
Turn blush next to me with feelings you conceal

Been but a mess of mistakes I did fall
This dream never loved me or fall at all

Burned in hope I will love this illusion
You are but a dream there’s no confusion

Such beauty and grace sure is a dream
Wish you were real for your heart I’d redeem

I shall sit still for you to fall in my stream
Who am I kidding you are but a dream

“How like a dream is this I see and hear!
Love, lend me patience to forbear awhile.” -Shakespeare
